Natures Hidden Pearl

Stoney Lake

Our client put full trust in our Timberline team to design and build their family cottage. The proposed dwelling was limited to the existing footprint of the previous demolished cottage, allowing the new build the stay nestled along the lake shore. Our client wanted the great room and dining room to feel as if they were a “4 seasons” room – very cottagey. The entire cottage is finished with wood – shiplap walls, T&G ceilings, dark stained beams throughout, creating a comforting cottage feel as soon as you enter through the simple post and beam entry porch. As you arrive, you wander up the flagstone walkways which wrap into lakeside patios seamlessly blending into the natural landscape. Flagstone patios were incorporated as decks were not allowed through township zoning to encroach within the water setback. The open concept kitchen, dining and living space all capture the stunning views of the lake. The cottage was designed to accommodate two families simultaneously with lots of practical entry storage, built in bench with storage along with shelving and hooks, and utilized the space under the stairs for additional cabinets and shelving. The second level is a fully hand cut roof to align the cottage feel with sloped ceilings lines creating unique cozy spaces among the dormers. This second level encompasses 4 bedrooms and one family style bathroom as the client wanted to keep the emphasis of the cottage around common family time not individual private spaces. This cottage is fully electric equipped with an electric car charger setup and a massive Generac generator for added resilience during power outages. The exterior is finished with prefinished wood siding, shakes combined with stone and a steel roof for minimal cottage maintenance and maximum property enjoyment.
