Coe Island Lake
This cottage was the Bronze Award recipient for Custom Built Homes 2501-4000SF at the 2024 PKHBA Awards.
Our client approached Timberline directly after purchasing a difficult bowtie shaped lot on the beautiful limestone bottom Coe Island Lake. Our client was looking to incorporate their sleek Toronto loft style into a cozy lakeside cabin in the woods. Keeping the spacing feeling simplistic and minimal is a highly detailed process achieved through custom tongue and groove flush hvac vents, sleek aria floor and wall registers, inversed corners in screen room to avoid bulky trims, and low-profile crown moulding around tongue and groove ceilings, monochromatic paint scheme to blend walls and trims. We used the waterfall technique with multiple different materials to create simple clean lines. The cozy feel was creased on the exterior end walls by blending the wood wrapped cave walls to provide privacy from close neighbours and picture frame lake views from interior. The waterfall standing seam exterior walls and roof with no overhang for a sleek modern exterior, forced the roof to be ventilate behind the siding cavity and up to the roof. The oak staircase had integrated LED lights in handrail to highlight the waterfalled risers for uniformity throughout the design. We again unified the design with a waterfalled stone fireplace hearth with integrated wood storage for overflow guest seating and easy fire stoking wood replenishments. Another unique, gorgeous build!
