Our client came to us with a design completed by her architect – looking for help with the build process. Our clients wanted to obtain a Lakehouse retreat that was authentic to their Israeli heritage. This was achieved with the modernist style and natural materials like the over grouted stone – our client showed our stone mason how people of Israel use their hands to spread the mortar over the stone the achieve her desired look. Our client wanted their dwelling design to be place of peace and restoration from the hustle and bustle of their dedicated international business work lifestyle - to arrive and feel that are immersed in nature to improve their creativity and refresh their zest for life. The lakehouse provides his and her spaces – allowing our clients have space to exercise their hobbies of painting, music, yoga, reading, and pottery. The award-winning ensuite is equipped with a Japanese toilet, soaker tub and flush walk-in shower. Our client wanted to ensure they provided an inviting space when their sons and respective families come to visit. They allotted a section of the dwelling with a private bathroom and 2 bedrooms to ensure their families felt comfortable to have their own space. The raised (waterfall riser stairs) take you to the primary suite through the private hallway to ensure visual and audible separated from the rest of the dwelling (this was the only section of the house without a basement to ensure sound and vibrations did not permutate through the floors for a silent retreat feel). The dwelling has a long central corridor with tall ceilings to allow client to display personal art collection and artesian light fixtures in a gallery like setting complete with natural stone wall, 10ft skylight, accent floor and art lighting and recessed ceiling uplighting. Our client achieved a harmonious aesthetic with natural materials throughout the house with overgrounded inside/outside limestone walls, natural polished basement concrete floors, random batten cement siding, and beautifully grained wood siding and soffit. We achieved a ton of natural light so it feels as bright as it is outside achieved through massive custom skylights and incorporating floor to ceiling glass lining every lakeside space to encompass the beautiful nature that surrounds the building to allow for the outdoor space to flow indoors.
To achieve limited to no obstructions of our clients lakeview from any window at any level - deck posts were not desired forcing the project to incorporate a complex steel frame structure with beams cantilevering the entire upper level and adjacent lakeside deck. We utilized “wasted space” throughout the home (corners/voids of windowless spaces in the building) by incorporating a hidden butler’s pantry, sauna, hidden covered BBQ area, custom steel entry wood storage boxes and guest bedroom recessed blind boxes. Our clients were clear that they wanted to preserve the oak tree at the entry door – we took extra precaution to protect it throughout construction. We completed the landscaping once we craned the pool over the house and dropped into place. What an impressive and unique build!
