Our client requested adding a more welcoming entry, a master bedroom with an ensuite above the walkout basement acting as a recreation room and spare room, as well as a screened porch. This cottage is on a very high property with a gorgeous view of the lake. Our client wanted to take advantage of this gorgeous view and add a major extension onto the existing cottage. We removed a small entry porch/deck that was on the original cottage and began the addition. The screened porch was added, skylights, sliding doors and windows were incorporated between the screened porch and addition to fill the room with natural light. An electric fireplace was implemented in the screened porch to take off the chill in damp weather. The back entrance was a complete change, adding a post and beam covered entry with stone columns and re-siding the original cottage to match the new made a significant difference. When you enter in the cottage, you are greeted through the grand entry with a view of the lake. Cathedral pine ceilings with exposed beams, large windows and peaks with windows allow the entry to feel bright and welcoming. A half round window was integrated in the wall dividing the addition entrance and existing cottage to allow it to feel more open and welcome more natural light. The entry has a staircase down to a landing where you step out into the screened porch or continue down to the walkout basement. The master bedroom has patio doors leading to a private deck. Exterior trim around the windows on the existing cottage were replaced to blend with the new addition. What a beautiful cottage!
